Hello

Listening to "The ConstruKction of Light" for the first time in a long time (ProzaKc Blues - is certainly a good example of how I feel today).

Anyway, I imagine there are rather a lot of fans of this band here.  I couldn't find a previous KC topic in this section so here we are.  Anyone seen them live?

I love a bit of Crimson, but have not seen them live. I think the nearest you could get now is the combined Belew+Levin tour that toured the States last year.I'm hoping they will do it this side of the pond some time. I don't think there's much chance of Mr Fripp joining them.

I need to get a few more of their albums, but I really like Discipline and Thrak.

I used to work down the road from a funky little record shop so bought lots of records on lunchtime adventures.

My first Crim was "Vroom Vroom", the live LP.  Then Red, Discipline, Starless and Bible Black, Lark's Tongues in Aspic, and, well the list goes on!  It's probably easier to list the LPs that I haven't got.

I always used to go back to the shop for more and always saw the Kings of Convenience albums first (but never bought them).

But I too have never seen them live.

Robert Fripp is a major influence in my guitar playing. Managed to meet both Bruford and Levin so far. I would have to say that Fripp, Belew, Levin and Bruford is the ultimate line-up for me!

One thing I love about KC is that you tell someone you like them and they often imply they are "a hippy band".  Then you can put on "Discipline" and it's almost undescribable. New-wave-polyrhythmic-space-funk?  Covers about 1/3 of it! But a hippy band they are not.

The Gunn-Mastelotto era is interesting.  I remember buying the "Happy With What You Have To Be Happy With" EP in Seattle and sticking it into the CD changer in my brother's car, which was full of Korn, Limp Bizkit, Audioslave and Tool (bands of which I was not very familiar at the time). I also didn't know how to work his stereo, so when we fired up the car and the title track started I had no idea that the "Nuovo Metal" which came blasting out was old Uncle Bobby and his pals.

I remember looking over at my brother and was like "is this what *I've* just bought? It's not one of *your* bands?" I remember in particular laughing at the all the vocals which explain that they haven't really sorted out the words yet, and the insane Belew guitar solo in the middle which sounds like someone who can't play the flute trying to play a flute, but executing the whole endeavour with immense taste and virtuosity.

I have since become rather partial to Tool, can tolerate Audioslave, and have managed to completely avoid Limp Bizkit.

Not a huge KC fan but have met Robert Fripp twice first time he refused to sign an autograph for me and the 2nd time he was sat at an aftershow party at the Royal Albert hall and didn't talk to anyone

It was a strange performance when he toured with G3

It was the hiding away in the corner, hidden by his equipment, rather than the resulting sound.
