Captain Pugwash is a fictional pirate in a series of British children's comic strips and books created by John Ryan. The character's adventures were adapted into a TV series, using cardboard cut-outs filmed in live-action (the first series was performed and broadcast live), also called Captain Pugwash, first shown on the BBC in 1957, a later colour series, first shown in 1974–75, and a traditional animation series, The Adventures of Captain Pugwash, first aired in 1998.[1]

The eponymous hero – Captain Horatio Pugwash – sails the high seas in his ship called the Black Pig, ably assisted by cabin boy Tom, pirates Willy and Barnabas, and Master Mate. His mortal enemy is Cut-Throat Jake, captain of the Flying Dustman.

Pugwash: the good old days. I vaguely remember watching an interview with the old chap getting quite cross when someone suggested 2 characters were Seaman Staines and Master Bates. Can't blame him really! :lol:

For thousands of years early man created Gods to explain the meaning of life, the universe and everything.

To date, what have we come up with.

Time never started.
The universe never ends because it's still expanding.
The universe was created from nothing, because nothing existed before the universe.

Even if the universe didn't go on for ever, what would be beyond it, rather than nothing because it hasn't been created yet.
& if time time had started, there must have been something before it.

Early man may have a point, but who created the creator, and who created the creators creator (ad infinitum as per Monty Python)

Not really... after all, what's south of the south pole? If you are there, you can only go in one direction.

Not that that really helps of course You either have a beginning or you don't... and both are awkward. Though I guess a beginning is a very temporal view point...

I kind of feel the same about lathes.  First there was some sort of lathe, which was used to make bits for a better lathe. Then that one was used to make bits for a better lathe, and so on and so on.  I expect today someone out there uses very sophisticated lathes to make copies of older, cruder lathes.

The onslaught of the replicators takes a step forward with the development of 3D printers (those that deposit material to build up a solid object. Apparently the goal is to make one that can make the bits to make another one... #scary
