Trains are no good, last one for me would be about half 9 :(  :x

Quote from: "DueyC"Anyone planning on driving, please take into account that all roads into London are busy on a Sunday night. I've been caught out by that before.
Not after last year. Horrible place to drive, is London. And it's an even more London-y location this year. No, I'm getting the train and staying in the nearest lodge/inn (I forget which, all my tickets are electronic and stashed safely on my phone).

I think the last time I came to see Frost* when they were supporting the Flower Kings at the Scala I parked in the Kings Cross station car park, as Turbo said.
Of course I didn't allow enough time for the journey and arrived just in time to see Frost* exit the stage. Bah!

Right, you 'orrible lot! We've a few days for someone with local knowledge to choose a large enough pub that's near the venue for pre-gig gathering. I probably won't have data coverage on my phone so need to plan in advance. I believe E.S. is also in a similar situation.
(Also: even if I had data, I'd probably not want to take my phone out of my pocket in London of all places...)

I'd be up for the pre-gig pub, but am concerned that the post-gig curry is a goner ...  :(

Indeed, although with such a central location, perhaps everywhere won't be closing at stupid times? :?

That's a very good point.
Shirley there'd be a vibrant late-night comestible scene, even on a Sunday.

The more pressing matter is where the 'eck to meet beforehand. It would appear that no-one has any local knowledge at all :(

Well I've finally booked my hotel and parking at the Travelsplodge Royal Scot, and 24hr parking was cheaper than the Kings Cross station overnight rate.

The bad news was I reckoned without the Congestion Zone and the car park entrance is about 2 yards inside it
I think it still works out cheaper overall though.

So I can now eat, drink and make a complete fool of myself  :D

For anyone still to book accommodation, be aware that Travelsplodge prices are a bit up and down at the moment. I originally booked at the weekend, but I've just checked and the price is showing £20 cheaper today. I had cancellation insurance, so I cancelled and rebooked at the cheaper price.
Very strange, normally the prices ramp up to a silly level the nearer you get to your stay.

This might be a stupid thing to say but the Congestion charge only kicks in at 7:00am on the Monday morning. :D

Kings cross is one of those places you pass through I guess. Thinking back to when I lived in London and spent a good deal of time exploring pubs, nothing from that area comes to mind - apart from the original Shires bar at St Pancras, which of course has now sadly gone.

From a net search this lunchtime, the one that caught my interest was:

This is not a recommendation - just a suggestion for consideration.

I think we will be parking in the station car park and trying to get there early enough to form or join the queue for doors. The two (ahem) "full" 70 minute sets are going to be over in a twinkle and (cue for song) I don't want to miss a thing.
Socialising time afterwards is likely to be a bit limited too due to the location, it being a Sunday night and it not being too fair to make the rest of my party stand around waiting while I say hi/goodbye to everyone else in the room! :)

Hi all - not been around for a while.....no excuse.  Just life.

One of my party of 5 has had a last minute crisis and can't make Frost*Bites so...I've got a ticket up for grabs if anyone wants one.

Looking forward to seeing you all there  8-)
