Hello to the whole fellowship!
I start this topic to ask you something for what I've got thoughts for years. Do you want a dvd or a cd from the next december live show. I don't know if Frost* team has in mind this kind of idea, but I want to request it, because I love this band, and I was very frustrated when I knew that the DVD failed and will probably never be produced... So If it's the community's wish to see (one day) a live pressed on a DVD, I'm sure that some Jem's good friends can ask him personnaly what he thinks about this project.
Thank you for reading, and for supporting this project.
Best regards and may the force of biscuits be with us!
Cheers!

Ahhh, we all dream of The DVD.....

The last attempt took months to plan and prepare for and still went pear-shaped when it came to it (through no fault of the band's, who all put in a huge amount of work, especially Jem).
So if you're asking about NEXT year.....

I don't think anyone would dare mention "DVD" to Jem. He might asplode.

The way I (and most Dedicated Frost*ies) see it, we're thankful for whatever time Big Jay can devote to Frost*; we don't expect albums or even one-off songs, as he's so inordinately busy, so they're even more of a treat when they show up :)
So a DVD? Only if you manage to clone Jem, or give him a winning lottery ticket ;)

If it were to happen, it would need someone other than Jem to organise it - someone experienced in professional video production and event organisation.

So.. not impossible. But it'd take some work by anyone-but-Jem. And plying Jem with a lot of calming biscuits.
* May contain nuts.

I would still love to see the idea come to fruition that was mooted after the "failed DVD" show.
Weren't there suggestions of recording a live performance in the studio, possibly rehearsals stuff?
If i remember correctly there was going to be two shows on it but can't remember the details.
Multi camera angle possibilities on something like that. You could select Blunders "PE Teacher look Track Suit" cam or Nathans "I forgot to check the dress code for the performance" cam.
Oh the possibilities.

IMPORTANT THING ABOUT THIS TOPIC !

I don't want to make anybody feels under pressure especially Jem. I wrote "Official" because it's important for me that Frost* members (and Jem firstly by the way) agree the project. I don't want to do it for my own business. I want to make it by fans for fans with Jem's approuvement. If it fails, so I just tried.
The word "bootleg" can probably make people confusing. I just wanna say through this term : a cheap way to make a collective souvenir, of course officially.
I hope no ones misunderstood my point of view.
Another thing : I don't ask it directly to M. Godfrey, because I think it must be viable a minima to make such request, and secondly, I prefer ask him with an old trusted frosty not to seems a joker or a pirate who want to sabotate the live.
Thanks for understanding me and replie. and sorry for lexical mistakes, I'm french and I do my best to write in the best english as possible.
Cheers.

PS to old frosties : If you think I'm rude or disrespectful, please tell me and I wil delete it. THX

Quite a few of us tend to film bits of gigs, whole gigs   , with varying quality and camera types. It has been suggested before about cobbling it all together into a full performance. The problem is it is a lot of work for whoever edits it together.

Well I said "DVD" but I thought more like a "homemade movie with an audio source quality better than cellphone's crispy recordings". Maybe using, for example, just 1 fixed camera, shorts shots from personnal devices (cellphones?) and something to record a basic medium quality sound.
Or I'm ready to pay and participate to a cameraman's services, if someone find a pro for the show (you know like for weddings).
Of course, I don't want Jem to organise it, I'm conscious that he is very busy!
If it will happened, I'll do my best but don't forget I don't live in London and I'm not English, so it might toughier than in France, but you can trust in my entire participation.
Thx.

So excuse me but I have to pray the God of Prog all night long to make this possible.

The DVD I edited for The Reasoning took a a fair amount of time and effort on my part but then I was dealing with approx 20hrs of footage to edit down to a 90min DVD. I also did the DVD authoring (Using the artwork that was given to me to design animate the menus and get the menus working).  Now this wasn't a live concert DVD.

In my mind I imagine a live concert would be easier to edit as your looking at a 90min - 2hrs performance just filmed from multiple camera angles once you have your footage captured and synched it's just a matter of shot selection. Of course one you've selected your shots you can spend a fair amount of time in post production colour correcting, noise reduction (video noise not audio) etc.  Of course the audio needs to be mixed and this is something I have no experience with and I have to leave to others to do. So while it might be easier from my standpoint to edit a live DVD it's probably no less time consuming when you take into consideration mixing, artwork design,

I have had a discussion with another band about editing live concert footage they have to be released as a DVD so I'm hopefully at some point I'll have edited a live DVD to add to my credits which at present include The Reasoning Dark Angel DVD, an interview I filmed between Tinyfish and David Elliot (The Amazing Wilf) which was included on the bonus disc of their Big Red Spark Album and I helped film Cyan's set at Summers End this year.

owen

that Speilberg fella keeps ringing, but I told him you were busy...

Fogeyspasm

Didn't know there was a version of The Reasonings Dark Angel. Might have to look at finding a copy.
Mike i have seen the interview between Wilf an Tinyfish. You did a grand job!

Hey, I am a post graduate with a Film degree, specializing in cinematography and editing. I have a HDCAM which I could shoot on and the resources (where i live and at work) to edit it together nicely. I am not so experienced with sound production, however I do have decent sound capturing equipment. I can not wait to go to the gig, got my tickets pretty much the day they came out but don't mind recording some of it for the greater good and for the awesome fan base!

Hi again boys and girls - it's been a while  :D

As a member of the arm-ache club, I often capture loads of footage and love to cobble it together and share on Youtube (as many do including Fogey) One idea I had only while I was in Bury on Saturday watching IQ was to get gig going forum members to agree on a track and everyone record it all. Then email or use dropbox to post footage to an agreed editor who will cobble it all together. You could get some brilliant shots, up close and personal next to the stage, in the wings, at the back, get techs and crew involved for stage shots....... ooooo it's exciting....
Hello, is there anybody in there?............

I like this idea! I'd be up for that!

This is a fantastic idea! I even think the change in video quality will bring its own charm.
