All the TDK talk has made me pine for new mix tapes...how about building one  or few here? All normal track optimisation rules apply...when it hits 45 minutes start again!

I'm gonna kick off with syd barrett and the effervescing elephant... 1.52 so 43.08 left to go

Any takers?

CHVRCHES - Lies (3:31, leaving 21:23)

(Seriously, if you can admit to yourself that you liked The Human League [remember Dare by Twats in Hats  8-) ?], then listen to / watch the utterly compelling video for Lies //http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUvJBD9MVI4 and imagine a CHVRCHES / Lauren Mayberry / Godfrey [if not Frost*] collaboration ...    I'm trying to work out how I can get up to Groningen for a very rare gig by them next Thursday at 23:00 and then back home in time for my son to have surgery on his collarbone the next morning ...  :? )

Fly/train in and out, avoiding the Groningen sea front hotel with the "whoops, no floor" problem...Don't get your passport nicked at Schipol...

Oh, it's a lot easier than that; I live in the Netherlands, so no passport required ;)  I can get the train up to Groningen after work on Thursday and be there in plenty of time for a 23:00 gig, but would then need to get the 05:05 train back to the Hague to be at the hospital with my son by 08:00-ish. If I was 25, this would be simple, catching a couple of hours sleep on the train back, but ...

As for the sea front in Groningen, you are joking, I hope: the sea's more than 15km away ...  8-) //http://goo.gl/maps/fgJVN

BTW, you have by now successfully completely derailed your own thread: top work!

If it's a gig you need to be at, act 25 then! Do Anything You Wanna Do. Then, Get Over It!  Bend the laws of physics if you need to!

It's my thread and I'll derail it if I want to... (with apologies to Sigue Sigue Sputnik?).    I stayed by the sea when I worked in Gronigen... maybe I blanked the rest out...

Well, persuading myself I can roll back the years that far for just a 40 minute gig is going to take some doing, but having listened to most of CHVRCHES small, but jewel-like oeuvre today, I'm completely smitten ...

As for it being your party etc., well, there was a Sigue Sigue Sputnik cover called "It's My Planet" among many, many other versions, but the original is from 1963 and Leslie Gore:

I know... enjoy the gig, small is beautiful!

*The Welsh band from the '70s, not the more modern lot.
