As we approach the end of a truly amazing year for Rosetta, with plaudits pouring in from all over the place, I've been putting together a blog post about some of the music that has been inspired by the mission, ranging from the "Ambition" soundtrack, to orchestral suites, and the several pieces by Vangelis.

But in doing so, I finally found time to listen properly to the brilliant work done by John Crossley at the University of Derby, with his band Sigma 7, comprising current and former students there. They staged a live surround-sound performance in June, which is available in full on YouTube:

All the musical tracks are available on YouTube separately, with binaural versions as well for headphone fans. As just one sample, here's a track that most Frost*ies should enjoy, especially if you're also fans of Magenta. Great stuff and definitely deserves a wider audience:

I'm in conversation with John and we may well stage a new performance some time next year ... Celebr8.4, anyone?  ;)

Bet he won't admit it though. And who's going to repair it, eh? Hooligans

Not guilty, your honour (as predicted)  8)

But actually, nothing would please us more than for the comet to fall apart during its closest approach to the Sun in August; we'd get to see the fresh interior of the beast, not just its dust-coated surface.

At least as long as we're more than 30km away at the time it happens  :o

But this gives me the excuse to post a link to the page of Atanas Valkov, the composer of the soundtrack to our slightly bonkers Rosetta sci-fi movie, "Ambition", who just released a full album of music including the soundtrack, but also a whole series of new tracks inspired by Rosetta and other ESA space missions.

Please do and take a listen to the samples and then buy it on eye-choons or somewhere: it's jolly good indeed.

Of course, I would say that, because I'm sampled on one of the tracks, which completes the set I need to finally join the exalted ranks (well, that Cox fellow is in there, so I'm not so sure) of Erdös-Bacon-Sabbath number holders. Have to mail in my application at the weekend: I think my EBS number is 13, dominated by my Sabbath number of 7. If anyone can help me with that, I can perhaps get below Coxy's 12  ;)

So does that mean we no longer refer to him as TA but as MT?

So, the Beeb is reporting that Philae has just woken up. So obviously good news for TA?
Except the rumour is that it's been broadcasting for months but someone had his iPhone turned up too loud and it's only since he's lost his expensive head phones he's noticed a tapping sound which, his minions tell him, is the machine.  :P

Or not.

Looking forward to everyone's favourite MT to turn up on Newsnight and tell us all about it. Go TA! ;)

Just seen news of this as well, and of course the first thing I did was come to the Frost* forum ;)

Excellent, excellent news.

Yes, it was rather surreal walking into the living room tonight when the BBC evening news was on and the 1st thing I saw was TA's face!  8) Great news - I'm really pleased that the amazing story continues.
Come on, you\'re a lion!

Bugger. I missed that. I was watching the England match (not sure why, I'm Welsh)
