That can't be official. No sign of a Media Tart anywhere

Behind the scenes, always behind the scenes: I suspect my editing fingers may have run over that story 8)

On the more public front, here are a small handful of things that may be of use to those suffering from insomnia:

Talk (long) at Google HQ in April: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOiY-OCCRjs&feature=youtu.be

Podcast interview with the wonderfully named The Cosmic Shed in August: http://thecosmicshed.podbean.com/e/bonus-episode-ambition/

Talk (short) at the World Economic Forum in September: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ki3mqtwaa4E

Just marvel at the blingy LED screen in the last one: shiny, shiny ... pity the 480p upload from the WEF doesn't begin to do justice to it  ;)

Smirk

Only the true media tart would deny his involvement ;D

You knew it was coming: Happy first birthday (sort of) to Philae!

One year to the day since we kicked him out of the house and down onto that comet. Rosetta was sad to see him go, but put on a brave face. Well, for the media at least ...

All the latest news at blogs.esa.int/rosetta, and for those of a whimsical disposition (what, here, on the Frost* forum; perish the thought), the latest cartoon episode is available here:

Awwww ... (get over it; it's a box of electronics  ;))

MT's back!  8)

Sad to hear that's it for Philae but hey, what a wondreful life it had.
Come on, you\'re a lion!

I wish to register a complaint.
Shirley we could have a Frost* reference in there  8)

Mordwin

Yes, though hardly unexpected. Still, with images like this still coming in... and Rosetta's final descent to look forward to... exciting times!

And of course there was the big story of the week in gravity-land... with big numbers to boggle the brain (I make 3 solar masses about 10^50 Joules...  :o)

You got it. The box of electronics known as Plucky Philae has (probably) shuffled off his mortal coil, even though some of the scientists involved having been taking the Monty Python approach to denial:

Rosetta continues and, as Mordwin has pointed out, is doing great stuff. But come September, we'll be too far from the Sun for useful performance, so we'll drop it on the comet as well. Should be another big meedjuh day: plenty of cheers and tears all round.

In the meantime, those of you in the UK can watch the ITV News At Ten tonight for some more gratuitous Media Tartery. Sorry, but they told me they were going to edit out the bit where I said that these are Philae's "Dear Dead Days".

(And for DS, I was on BBC Radio Scotland this evening, I think :-)

What's this?  An article all about a new ESA mission and no MT quote?  Slipping...
(No doubt we'll get some flimsy excuse such as he's not actually involved in this project. ;))
Come on, you\'re a lion!
