Last month, the search for Britain's Best Small Venue in association with Jack Daniel's kicked off once again. Now in its fourth year, the campaign hunts out and celebrates the places and spaces that inspire, encourage and support their local scenes.
We asked you to nominate the best small venues in your area. Those votes have been compiled to form this shortlist – the 11 venues in the running to be named Britain's Best Small Venue 2014.

Seems the Norwich (like porridge) Arts Centre won! So they said at the brilliant Thisisthekit/Anais Mitchell solo shows tonight!
Great evening, shame about the fog...made for a long ol' trek home!

It is a great little venue and fortunately for me (by the time a gig has finished) 5 minutes from home Not been for ages, last time must have been Pure Reason Revolution (2007).

Took us nearly three hours to get home...

We lived for three months in a paper bag in a septic tank.
We used to have to get up at six in the morning,
clean the paper bag,
eat a crust of stale bread,
go to work down t' mill,
fourteen hours a day, week-in week-out,
for sixpence a week,
and when we got home our Dad would thrash us to sleep wi' his belt.
