My mom's house near Syracuse was without power for 5 days after the '98 storm.  I remember a pretty bad ice storm around 1990.  Several of the trees lining our back property line snapped and fell toward the house.  Branches brushed against the windows of my mom's bedroom window, but no damage to the house, fortunately.  It was a crazy night, though, listening to the crackling, followed by a whoosh and looking out the window to see a treetop right outside.  I don't miss that.

Quote from: "rogerg"the longest without power I've ever had here at the house is 54 hours.  thank goodness for wood heat and a (then) gravity-fed spring!

Wow! Rogerg it looks so nice there! Looks so peaceful.

Quote from: "EVP"I remember the Ice storm that hit areas to the north/Watertown in '98(?) I think it was
and Quebec was brought to it's knees. We had one bad ice storm here a few years
back where we had no power for the weekend.

I was in Watertown for the '98 ice storm .. We were without power for a week, but some areas didnt get switched back on for nearly a month. Nearly every utility pole from Watertown north was knocked down.
I dont think it's a coincidence that I moved to PA a few months later

Central Massachusetts was absolutely whacked! I have never seen anything quite like it...my little town is like a ghost town.  We've been in hotels since Friday last week, and still no power.

On top of everything else, Wife and baby also have been sick...  So it has been a really truly rough go...

gr8gonzo

Sorry to hear that, Rudy!  Hope everyone's better soon.  Any word how long you should expect to be displaced?

EVP

Wow yes I hope everything turns around for you guys soon. If I wasn't so far away
I'd do what I could to help out.

That reminds me I have a friend in Albany I should call to see if he's okay.
His wife is due on the 23'rd.

Poor kid.  S/He faces a lifetime of combination gifts.  Another one screwed by the ol' Merpy Birthmas.  I went to school with a girl whose birthday is February 29th.  She turned 10 this year.
