My daughter has rather inherited my love of all things Kylie. Well, in fact, she's massively overtaken me. She knows the story to 'Showgirl Princess' off by heart, can sing along to words I'm glad she doesn't understand, and wants her very own stage gang when she grows up.

So I thought, all festive-like, that I'd pop in to Chappell of Bond^H^H^H^HWardour St and pick up a Kylie manuscript book. Just imagine her happy little face being able to sing along, I thought.

Well, it might take a little more practice - some of these songwriters have been clearing Steve out of his top-of-the-range gold-plated chords. Makes Yes look like a bunch of old twelve-bar lovers. It's proper BeeGees complicated!

So if anyone says pop is simple or easy, give them a quick kick in the harmonies from me!

On my list of 'bands to investigate properly one day to find out what the fuss was about', along with Television, The Pixies, Velvet Underground, Sigur Ros and Cocteau Twins.

The Jesus Jones song of the same name was very witty though.
