Pedro

I just pinched this from the Tinyfish forum.
=========================================

This is going to play havoc with our favourite venues like Riff's and The Peel and all those ickle places we love, it really will put nails into their coffins and we CAN't let this happen!!!

****************

Another piece of proposed legislation that will adversely affect live music in the UK:

It has been brought to attention that the government wish to consider it a legal requirement in the new tax year to introduce laws insisting anyone applying or re-applying for an entertainment license must have a noise control device fitted to the venue. This will be the final nail for all entertainment in the UK as the level at which these devices cut you off is dreadfully low and damaging.

Please do not introduce this law, we love live music!

I've played in pubs with these hateful devices the first time I ever did we started the first song and the little box of tricks cut us off within 15 seconds! Instead of getting on with playing you end up spending all night watching the bloody meter trying to keep it out of the red   :x  because it's not just the overall volume that seems to trigger it, it's frequencies as well (say some cymbal work on the drums or a sweep of backing vocals or whatever). Terrible things!
I'll sign up now!

This is crap.
A law requiring people to keep their young children's ears protected during gigs would be a good idea, in my opinion, but this? It sounds like something dreamed up by someone who hasn't got the faintest idea of how live music works.

I was a victim of goose-flirting the other day.
This bleeding great goose came up to me and wanted a light.
I said no.
Goose, there\'ll be no flirting today.

Hateful devices, as cosmic said, they really do impact on your gig.
