Hey all,

This is the first song of original material of a prog nature that I've written and managed to get together with some people and record.

I'm on the keys in the song :)

I would love to know what you guys think and any comments/suggestions/constructive critism would be appreciated!

Very nice - not much to suggest really, sounds pretty much there.
Will it have a vocal or some melody line(s) at some point? That might be over-doing it maybe but it's all I can think to suggest.

Well it wasn't going to no.
The other songs that we're writing will have more melody lines and vocals as well.

We decided to keep that track just as an instrumental number due to it being quite busy :)

Well I can safely say it's an unfortunate coincidence! I wrote that ages ago before EIMA was even out so it wasn't from that and I certainly didn't copy it! Even if I had seen the report I would never intentionally nick anything!! :S

To be technical Jem's riff is in a different key and different chords as well as being a major and minor third where as mine's a tritone and a fifth...Although you're right that the rhythm is the same which is pure coincidence. hopefully that's enough of a difference ;)

I definitely didn't plagiarise anything and it just came about from the way it's played in semi-quavers but spread across two hands...

My bad! :)
Hopefully the rest of the song doesn't insult you quite so much ;) lol

It doesn't insult me in the least.  I actually think the song is quite good.....and the band sounds promising.   Given the fact you posted looking for comments, I thought I would point out the similarities.

I'm glad you like it though, it'll be interesting to see what kind of material we come up with next! There's all kinds of ideas flying round at the moment :)
