Really sorry to hear that, Fogey.  :(

I've got friends who are also looking for jobs in Hull, my Brother up North has had next to nothing since last June and my Uncle also lost his job just before Christmas - we're in a really depressing phase right now and sadly it ain't going away any time soon.

However, glass half full everyone! Good luck with finding something, matey!

Sorry to hear about your double-whammy on he job front Fogey. I think the spectre of unemployment is getting a lot closer for many of us than we would like to think. Hope you both find something soon.
What's your profession BTW?

Fogeyspasm

I don't really have a profession. My partner was the main breadwinner and stayed at home as a "house husband" to bring my son up. She is/was a project manager for computer voiceware systems.
I just seem to pick up jobs as i go along. Anything that sounds interesting. I have worked in the renovation workshop for the Hull transport museum but most recently was Race Director at a Kart circuit in Hull. Probably my favourite job, as we had a great set of staff snd most of the time it was really enjoyable to go to work. I got to do a bit of everything from office to kart maintenance, driver training, marshaling, it was just such a laugh.
Will no doubt find something else that fits the bill.

I was a victim of goose-flirting the other day.
This bleeding great goose came up to me and wanted a light.
I said no.
Goose, there\'ll be no flirting today.

That's sh*tty news mate, I'm really sorry to hear it. Good luck to you both for the coming weeks.

and I admire your spirit!  keep it up!

Fogey, you seem to have had jobs in the places that achieved mythical status during my childhood, I'm actually quite jealous! I should really pop into the Transport Museum to see what's changed in the last 12 or so years since I last went, and I live on the same street as it!

Sorry to rant and ramble everyone, maybe this isn't the appropriate thread for such things...

If it says "Frosties*" at the top of the screen then this is the place! :D

We had some right laughs transferring stuff from the museum. For anyone who doesn't know Hull it is in the old quarter with a cobbled street. I once took a 1912 Panhard, i think it was for its MOT. Bear in mind it was a single cylinder with massive flywheel so you can imagime how much it rocked. Got the half a mile to the garage where its MOT consisted of a quick look over, followed by a "yes its got lights of sorts and something that could very vaguely be called brakes"
MOT in hand we set off back and broke down in the middle of a huge junction with traffic lights. This thing weighed a ton or two but it was so comical as we pushed it back.
We also once got asked to take a steam car to Town Docks Museum. No problem we thought until asked to get four or five helpers. Turned out they wanted it upstairs for an exhibition and to do this we would have to get it up a huge winding marble staircase!

Even funnier stuff at the track. Naked stag do guy tied, in the pouring rain, to infield lightstandard, but we did let him flag the final!
Shells regular breast exposes to cheer the lads up.
Too many to think of, it was a great atmosphere though.
As they say worse things happen at sea and on that note my partner is doing her CV and im off to put the kettle on and have a nice brew and a biccy! :D

There are a few pics here if anybodys not got anything better to do.
Warning includes guitar porn and models so you have been warned!
(Guitars are porn to some and model kits/dioramas just to clarify the above)
