Following on from their Rotherham Rocks appearance which according to Karl was a bit disapointing (crowd wise) Threshold played The Peel. First up was drummer Johanne James 'other' band the hard n 'eavy Kyrbgriner who I really enjoyed. Then have played one set singing and playing drums Johanne moved his kit back to play another set with Threshold.
They started of with 'Slipstream' and never looked back they were on fine form, Damien periodically jumping into the crowd to make make sure everyone was singing and clapping along! Which by and large they did, lots of noise at the end ensured an encore of 'Falling Away' and 'This is Your Life', excellent!
Nice to see a certain JM in the audience (I was surprised he remembered me from my Chrimbo Frosty singing, which was nice!) and also good to catch up with johninblack again  ;)
We tootled down to Poole the next day for the Mr Kyps gig, which although not a sellout was still a great show, this time with Galahad in support.
We got right down the front for this one and sang ourselves hoarse!

What a great band, nice to see Pete Morton now looking very comfortable on second guitar and I have to say although I really like Mac on the records, Damien is a damn fine frontman vocally and performance wise... respect due  ;)

Excellent weekend - I mirror what Cosmic said, nice to have a chat with JIB and Co and find out we have nearly identical cameras - I've got some video footage and I believe you were doing some too John....be interested to see how the two come out  ;)   My photos from Mr Kyps were better than The Peel due to our positioning but there is one of Damian I like from The Peel - kinda sums him up I think..:

Great gurning photo in the middle!  ;)

I've very jealous of you southerners as Threshold don't ever seem to play up this far north.  I've been a fan since Clone but have only seen them once, at Summer's End last year.  Totally agree with your comments re- Mac vs Damien.  I prefer Mac's vocals on the albums but live, Damien is just a brilliant frontman and a thoroughly decent bloke who was happy to spend time speaking to the fans.

Roll on the next time...  :D
Come on, you\'re a lion!

Here's the video I did and the little write up below:

"For anyone who missed The Peel gig, here's 'Light and Space' in its entirety, without the pauses as Karl Groom intended it to be heard '-)) Excuse the shakey cam, it's very hard to stay still during a Threshold gig!! It does get easier on the eyes after a minute or so and watch out for Damian singing "I know you" straight to camera :-) "

I suppose the video was on its maximum zoom too which made any movement more exaggerated on closeups - I'm very impressed with the quality of video my camera takes I have to say (it's lost a bit of clarity on the link compared to what I get on media player at home).  If I'm a distance away and struggling with good photos at least I can get some decent vid to remind me of a great night!

If you want to see a clip of Kyrbgrinder from the same night the video for that is just underneath on the same link - I stopped it as I couldn't get the focus back for some reason, Johanne's talky bit at the start is amusing!

Good vids! When I feel a bit better and more inclined I'll sort out ours.

Hope you're not too unwell John  :(  I've picked myself up a sore throat from somewhere, feel a bit poo today and I took the week off work too, typical!  Coming on here is distracting though, I suggest we both blast our respective barsteward virus/ills out with heavy doses of prog!

THRESHOLD have entered Thin Ice Studios to begin recording their ninth album.
The album is being produced by keyboard player Richard West and guitarist Karl Groom.
West commented... "We've got about 75 minutes of music at the moment so there's plenty to do"
Groom added..."I'm very pleased with the way this album is coming together,""It is particularly good to see contributions in writing from more bandmembers."

The new album marks the return of the band's original vocalist, Damian Wilson.
Damian rejoined the group in 2007 following the departure of Andrew "Mac" McDermott, who sadly died a few months ago.
Threshold's last studio album, "Dead Reckoning", was released in 2007 and was by far their best CD to date.
The album will be released in early 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records
