When the future\'s looking dark, we\'re the ones who have to shine...

Well, we've been Ark'd; a first time for me, and some good rocky stuff in there. Have never been a big fan of the prog rock flute, but I did like the guitar that sounds like a keyboard.

Of course, next we'll have Jem doing keyboard that sounds like a guitar for symmetry ... :-)

Pedro

Thanks for the updates, TA. :)

A blinder, IMHO. Off to a slightly shaky start with TDL sound-wise, if only because the vocals were inaudible. But that all got fixed and balanced, and there were some outrageously good moments. A very special Black Light Machine, a fantastic Hyperventilate kicked off somewhat unconventionally by Craig :-), and an awesome Milliontown. Oh, and an encore I've personally been waiting for a long time to hear live; regulars may know of what I speak ;-)

This quartet can seriously wind the music up; as someone next to me said at the end in incredulity "It's so full on!" That said, it was a jolly good laugh as well; I'm sure others will report more later.

As I write, the venue is clearing slowly, but Nellie is still merching up a storm, alongside JJ doing the same for Ark. Didn't meet any other Frost*ies, I'm afraid; all a bit anonymous on that front. Did anyone meet up in advance after all?

Still, meeting Nellie for the first time was compensation enough; what a lovely lass, and nothing like as fearsome as she appears on here (but I usually ask for it :-)

Oh wow! Sounds great TA - thanks for the update.  :D And Milliontown - hadn't expected that.
Roll on tomorrow...  8-)
Come on, you\'re a lion!

Can you feel the envy from here? Glad it went well; wish I could have been there. Fingers crossed that I can get to Derby on Monday.

Sorry to have missed you TA - t'was a cracker wasn't it.  Now kicking myself that I didn't buy tickets for the other three gigs.  Next time it's a week off work and as many tickets as my credit card can handle.

Vocal mix was APPALLING.  I wasn't sure at first whether it was my ear plugs but checked with Tomskerous outside afterwards and he agreed.

Despite the lack of vocals it was a great night.  I felt that Jem seemed not his "normal" self during TDL.  But after that went well he loosened up and seemed to be enjoying himself.  Which made me happy as I had wondered whether he was in the mood for this.

Living Forever, RobH, Philadelphia, Nellie and Tomskerous were the only Frost*ies I saw but I did rush off afterwards as I didn't want to have trouble getting home.

Really looking forward to Monday!

Ahhh - I presumed it was because I was too near the front and wasn't getting the full PA mix.  Agreed - couldn't hear the vocals at all.  From where I was JM was a bit quiet too.

I think Jem's keys were way too low in the mix too for TDL, which meant that at times all you could hear was drums and bass- with quiet Jem and quiet JM sounding like they might possibly have been in a different key for some of it.

Even Nathan was over by his monitors trying desperately to hear what the others were playing, I think. Bit of a shame but I still really enjoyed it and reckon it should be great by Monday!

And the problems seemed to go away with the second song, after which they absolutely triumphed, to my mind!

On another note - they all came on very smartly dressed - suited and booted (although Jem's boots didn't last long).

A clear statement of intent!

Wasn't intending to buy the calendar, but when Vit P insists....

Note to self - DON'T STAND SO CLOSE TO THE PA WITHOUT EARPLUGS!

Thank you guys. We got in really late to the venue so soundcheck was almost non existent before the doors opened!!! It's was great to meet some of you in person, I really enjoyed my first gig with the guys and can't wait for tonight!!

It was a great night, and apart from the opening number sound issues mentioned already, I thought it was totally brill. I was quite near the front to begin with but moved about two-thirds of the way back after a couple of numbers and the sound was much better. It was also easier to get to the bar

The trouble with small venues like that is that even if you do get a chance to do a proper sound check (time constraints aside, sorry to hear it was so pushed Blunders) the acoustics are transformed by the addition of the audience. In my days on the mixer for various bands in similar venues (many years ago) we always ended up making some quite major adjustments during or after the first couple of numbers to compensate.

Thanks for looking after my stuff Nellie :D it was a pleasure to meet you, sorry for farking you about
"Got a bag for me?"
"Right here, with your name on it" (retrieves bag from pile of stuff, hands to me)
"Thanks. Can you look after it till the end of the gig please?"
(Nellie takes bag back) "I'll just put this back again then shall I?"
Cue guilty purchase of extra merch to compensate...  ;)

Due to the weather I ended up with a) an unexpected house guest and b) a spare ticket. Said House guest is not known for his proggy leanings, but given he was stranded in London with us he came along.
End of TDL: "Fecking hell!! That was magnificent! Was that medley of stuff from the CD?"
"No mate, that was ONE song. Welcome to the world of Frost*!!" A proper convert is made  :D

Roll on Derby!!
People ask, "Why haven\'t aliens contacted our goverment by now?"
If you were a super intelligent, galaxy crossing being what would possibly make you want to speak to the government??
