-EDIT-
My band is recording our very first ep in 2 weeks (thankyou, you're too kind) so is there anything that you would highly reccomend to have during the process? Like a range of drumsticks, moongel or just plain ole ear plugs?

As my band recently recorded our latest EP, then I'd recommend the following things :
If you are using your own drums, make sure the heads have some 'life' in them - old dented heads will sound rubbish
And make sure they are tuned before you go, so you are only 'tweaking' in the studio
Don't be too eager to damp drums with moongel/tape etc - a lot can be acheived afterwards with eq, but you will find it more difficult to 'liven up' over damped drums
A choice of snares (if you have them)
A choice of cymbals(as above)

Ultimately, if you think you might need it, take it. Better to have stuff that you don't use than need stuff you don't have.

And of course, make sure you have the songs well rehearsed and know how you want them to sound. The guy who produced our EP had copies of live versions of the tracks first and we also gave him some reference tracks which we liked/wanted to emulate from a production point of view.

Oh, and enjoy it!!! ;)

I haven't bought anything in ages.  :(
Still waiting for a custom mic pre-amp from a hifi guru nearby. I have no use for the good mics until it arrives. Four channels of high-end goodness, for a special price, of course. :D
I have major GAS, mainly for software. Hollywood Strings is way high up on my list, also the EWQL Piano.

Btw, I was rehearsing with a new project last week, and the guitarist said it's been so long since his last purchase, he was excited to practice with new picks.

I dare not buy anything for a while.

Since the Fantom last year, I bought the Boss VE20 vocal effects pedal, an EV N/D767 vocal mic, and this weekend a Zoom Bass Effects pedal (and I don't even play bass) - And I'm not counting the Alesis drum kit - 'cause that was a present.

I quite fancy a Chapman Stick - And I don't play guitar or Bass...  But that might have to wait QUITE a long time... As potentially it would end up being a very expensive ornament.

Thankyou mooncat but I've been informed I may have over played the term "ep"

Apparently this is more of a first demo (?) for sending out to venues until we can scrape the cash together for the ep.

I dunno how all this is supposed to work (or whether it does have a set way to work) but thankyou for the insight  :D

Mooncat

To be fair, although the studio may treat things differently in term of the amount of time spent etc, most of the points above will still be useful.
We've done some 'live in the studio' stuff and the EP in the last few months and we spent the time making sure we were happy with guitars, drums etc on both so the end product is something we can be proud of.

Not trying to teach you to suck eggs, but if you adopt a 'professional' approach whether it be for a demo or full blown EP you'll be happier with the end result, in my experience

Oh, just a Marshall dsl50 to which I  fitted new =C= valves, a Blackstar HT Blackfire pedal and eight new prototype guitars.

So nothing much.
This space for sale.

I,ve been rumbled  :(  :(

I vont to drink your blood

But I've never sucked a goat....honest

El Chupacabra. The name of this creature translates in English as the "Goat Sucker". This rather odd name is more of a description of the animal and its attacks that were first noticed in the mid nineties. The creature was suspected in attacking goats, biting its neck with its long fanged teeth, and then draining all of the blood from its hapless victims.
