Saw the new DT lineup last night in Wolverhampton and it was pretty amazing. Everyone smiling and joking and Mike Mangini fitted in perfectly.  The audience reaction to him seemed really good as well.

I do however think they missed the opportunity for the 'Mangini Mankini' on the merch desk........................

That's really more of an IQ kind of thing. Catherine has evidence.  ;)

It was marvellous indeed! Mooncat, you didn't happen to be about 6 rows back in the middle, wearing a Philadelpia Experiment T-Shirt did you?

Mooncat

Nope. Was near the sound desk although was sporting a Frost* shirt!!!

They done good at High Voltage tonight. I got to the rail (in front of one of the big tell screens and soaked up some of the energy. It started to get just a *little* bit samey after 40 mins so went back to sit with Mr Pedro by the big wheel. Still a stunning spectacle even if the sound was more muffled.
We legged it went the encores started so we could get on a bus without too much of a queue.
My lad's mate lent me the DT back catalogue (pre-silver-linings ) a while back, I think with a bit more diligence I could find a good playlist in there.
Nice end to fest, not as big a deal as ELP I guess but much more polished/impressive for me.

Ah right, I did wonder if it was anyone on here.

The night was only dampened somewhat by a few tit-heads forming the world's most inappropriate mosh-pit during Fatal Tragedy, and every other song after that. Luckily there was a few people between me and it, but it was distracting to say the least. Damn selfish if you ask me. Other than that the gig was astounding, apart from Eden's Curse, who were horrendous

Eden's Curse - how many old school metal live albums must they have listened to - "Hello Wolverhampton" was the singers catchphrase for the night - by my count he said it at least twice every song

Rather like Airbourne's singer who said the word "Newcastle" between every song as well as IN every song at the recent Maiden gig

Ecosse

Was at the gig too.

Agreed Edens Curse were horrible, me and my mate actually left after 2 songs.

DT were superb, one of the best times I've seen them, very tight. Mangini has slotted in perfectly from what I could see.

I was there in a Frost* tshirt too, with my mate in his Bad Religion tshirt.

For the impatient: Their advance single "On the Backs of Angels" is now available from Amazon as an mp3.

Actually pretty excited by the snippets from the new album... some really nice sounding proggy bits, and early reviews all very positive. I've a whole bunch of gigs in the autumn, and there are several albums that have to be purchased (or already have been), and this is definitely going to be one of them.

Im also looking forward to ADToE's.From what i gather, theyve gone back to playing more prog rock than the heavier stuff which seems to have dominated the last two albums.Iv managed to have a sneaky preview of the whole track Breaking All Illusions and it is mind blowing..very prog..and very epic, not too disimular too Octavarium.September 13th cant come soon enough. ;)

I've listened to the new album a few times need to give it a closer listen as it's been on while I've been doing other things but I like what I've heard so far wasn't sure about a couple of songs but will give them another listen

Play.com just told me my CD is in the mail. Haven't been this excited about DT for years.
