So... am I the only one who has been watching the train wreck that is Queensryche? I would imagine there are a few fans here of some of the older albums - Rage For Order is one of my top 5 albums.

Well, this is the first time in a long time I have allowed myself to be at all optimistic for a decent album from them.

E.S.

Funny you should mention them, I've been spinning Operation: Mindcrime quite a lot recently. Haven't done that in years, and it's still a lovely album. So is Empire, those two are probably my favs.

Haven't followed the drama closely, but the recent change seems to be a welcome one. Hopefully the result will be a good one.

Silent Lucidity was the first song i'd heard by them, at the time i was all out thrash, listening to the big four....so to listen to something soft was a bit "gay" at the time......according to my mates....what do they know eh....
Operation mindcrime has been played around 20 times in the last month, as has Empire.....not sure what this thread is about though so will look it up and re-post something...

Right o.
Had a squizz at the website and its one of those rock cruise things....
Sounds fun, Queensryche and Five Finger Death Punch....m/

Umm.... no. The Queensruche website has not been updated in a while due to conflicts about ownership and rights to the name.

Tate has been fired, and replaced with Todd LaTorre (of Crimson Glory). Tate tried (unsucsessfully) to serve an injunction to stop Wilton, Rockenfield and Jackson from using the name. The court depositions paint... an interesting picture.

In brief: According to the other members of QR, Geoff Tate assaults and spits on his band mates, conducts shady and illegal buisness to divert funds to himself and his family, hates heavy metal and the old songs,  and rejects song ideas from the rest of the band. According to Tate, he has been driving the ship for the last fifteen years despite the complete lack of effort and input from the rest of the members.

Well... driving it into the ground, maybe. Aparently Operation Mindcrime II was almost entirely written by Tate, Jason Slater and Mike Stone. Eddie Jackson plays bass on about half the tracks, Michael Wilton barely plays anything, and Scott Rockenfield does not appear on the album at all. Now I know why I couldn't make it through the album even once. It is not a QR album, it is a Geoff Tate solo album, like everything from Q2K on. Oh yeah; Q2K was aparently written by Kelly Grey and Geoff Tate with no other input.

Its a whole bit thing and it goes on for many pages, but really the proof is going to be in the next album. Can the original members still write, given the chance? I hope so...

Not a fan of the band but I am watching and reading this story with great interest. It's a real life soap opera. Quite a heady discussion of the ins and outs going on over at Mike Portnoy's forum. Sad for the fans to have to see their band implode so publicly but from what I've read and seen (the Tate spitting video) ousting Tate might well be the best thing for the future of the band itself.

Thats what I think too, and believe it or not even though I as not a fan of the last few QR albums or his solo album, I will be interested to see what Geoff Tate does when he is not trying to be QR.

Will NOT be buying anything unheard by these guys though. Actually that gives me an idea for another thread...
