Um, well, it wasn't actually, my birthday - someone got muddled between 10/08 and 08/10. I blame the forum and its daft US-centric date format. Pah!

But thank you all for the birthday wishes - most cheering in my present gloomy circumstances. I've had a pretty crap October, except for Summers End which was lovely; I found out my job was at risk of redundancy on 2nd October, went through an absolutely hellish farce of a "consultation period" which has to rank as one of the lowest points of my life, until I was finally made redundant on the 11th October, and was told I would be required to work out my 8 weeks' notice. However, after much wailing and gnashing of teeth, they are releasing me on gardening leave at the end of this week, and I can get on with looking for a new job and generally pulling myself together.
