Well...a-hem...not speaking a word of German, I turned to trusty Babel Fish for a translation of this album cover (note that I entered all text from top to bottom):

"Body mother... a bouquet, that never withers to Heino a gift furs whole year"

wickedwitch

i think you put in leib not liebe  one meaning body and the other being love. (or soemthing like that)

dear mother

a bouquet of flowers that never withers (oslt)

a gift that lasts the whole year.

Much better!
But...hmmm... :?

...after reading the real translation, ya just gotta wonder what it's all about.  The guy gets his mother a bouquet of artificial flowers and writes a whole album about it?  What is this, a prog band?

Ba-boom...and I'll get my coat now.

Tom, look away now.

With the GTR release was a list of the bands that Howe & Hackett etc had been in.
Marillion was mentioned, it took a few reads through my Guinness book of rock entry for Marillion, before I found a one liner for Jonathan Mover. Not overly impressed I got a surprise when he turned up with Joe Satriani.

I actually asked Mover about this after the GTR gig in D.C.  Apparently he was with them for all of one night, at least according to him.  I stopped talking to him and spoke to Messrs. Bacon and Hackett instead.
Forget where the book is now to look up what it said. He's credited on a shed load of stuff on his website

So many bands that a metal guitarist isn't supposed to say. Oh well.

Somewhere, I still own Alpha by Asia.

There is no excuse.

But Kirsty MacColl's "Electric Landlady" would still go on the bonfire first!
I was a victim of goose-flirting the other day.
This bleeding great goose came up to me and wanted a light.
I said no.
Goose, there\'ll be no flirting today.

Keep taking the pills.......recovery is in sight.

At least you're admitting you've got it. It's a start.

personal taste differs from person to person  :)   Hey some people don't like Rush???!!!!

I saw them at Loreley a couple of years back.  It is strange that I don't like Asia, seeing as I like Yes and like some ELP and King Crimson.  They murdered Roundabout and Video Killed...  The only bits I liked was the King Crimson and ELP bit. However at the encore I did get caught up in the "Heat of the moment" as it were.

Where to begin?

And as for not liking Rush..... treatment is available on the National Elf, I hear.
This space for sale.

I have been cured of wearing Rush t-shirts as I now mainly own Frost* t-shirts  :)

Actually, I quite like "Alpha". There, I've said it.

The production, as with all "original" Asia albums, strikes me as being tinny and irritating, but some of the songs on "Alpha" are really good. They deserved a better sound.

And, what's more, I belive that John Payne-era albums "Aqua", "Aria" and "Aura" not only sound better than anything that "original" Asia have produced, but feature some cracking prog-tinged AOR songs. The few live bits I've heard seem pretty weak though...

I've got plenty of albums that I'd be more embarrassed for another muso to see on my shelf and judge me by. Pendragon's "Kowtow", for example.

Not sure why liking Tears for Fears is something to be embarrassed about. Good songs, imaginative arrangements, classy musicianship.

Its far more embarrassing to say something such as "I don't like Bob Dylan". Not that I would dream of saying that, of course. I'd be too embarrassed.

Cheers

I have to agree that ASIA aren't very good live, well not judging from any of the live cd's I have, but I still love them. If you can manage to find ASIA - GOLD then you will find all of the "original" ASIA releases all nicely remastered on 2 cd's, well worth a purchase I think. I really like Bloc Party, their studio work is superb but live it just doesn't work, it sounds messy and flat, but it doesn't stop me from liking them.
How can anyone not like Rush?????? 8-)

As for Bob Dylan....well, actually I don't particulary like him. I can listen to it and it's ok but it does nothing for me. It;s just ok. There, I said it!

Hello my name is Mark and I've seen Wet Wet Wet live.

And Simply Red.

They were better than Bryan Adams though  ;)
