Morning all !

I have decided to finally join up, having lurked in the shadows watching you all ' Phantom of the Opera ' style for the last 6 months or so on the old forum.

As a first post, decided to submit a (brief) review of the Marillion show in Glasgow last night. No doubt some of you were there.

So here goes !

First 90 mins - good, but a bit mid-paced/dull. Very sincere and worthy. Started to drag a little, if I'm being completely honest.

Last 60 mins - excellent ! The shackles fell away and the band began to enjoy themselves and connect with the audience. The encores were brilliant. We even had a marriage proposal, read out by Mr Hogarth from the stage !

Steve Hogarth - charisma personified. Gave it 100% throughout.

Set list - not too HITR heavy, 6 songs I think. Nothing Fish-era and v.little early Hogarth.

All in all, much better than I expected !

Hope you all enjoy the tour as it moves South !

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the review, I was invited to their Bristol gig tomorrow but alas I already had tickets for another gig and I can't make any of the other dates on their tour.

I photographed them when they played Bristol last year

EXCELLENT show in Manchester tonight.  Everyone was euphoric!

Caught them on the Bournemouth date at the Opera House, they played a cracking set, H was in fine form and they all seemed to being enjoying it.
The gig finished with a big communal chant of the 'Happiness is the Road' chorus, which the band left the stage to... quite magical actually!

If you can, go see 'em, definately worth the 100mile round trip we made.

Just got back from the Nottingham gig. I've never been a Marillion aficionado - certainly not Fish era, anyway. But (sorry kids) I thought they were absolutely fucking mindblowingly good tonight. Sure, they played a few 'numbers for the hardcore fans' which were a little dull, but the tracks I have liked on record were taken to a completely new dimension in a live setting.

No shredding, no flashy showboating,  almost no prog. Just the music. And I must say, I found it a breath of fresh air. Oh, and I didn't detect a flippin' 7/8 time signature anywhere in the set.

Production values and lighting were stellar given the level of venue , and the band enjoyed larking about and laughed off the odd cock-up.
And Stevie Hogarth. What can i say - for me, he made the evening so special and drew the audience in to the music - and the performance -  as well as any frontman i've ever seen.

Plus each night's audience gets to download a professionally shot vid of the gig the day after. Brilliant!   :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

Mr lawnmower - were you the chap in the EIMA tshirt? I did try to catch you as you walked past me but the crowd was moving at a fair clip.

i thought marillion were very poor at Bournemouth. Perhaps its because we werent in the main crowd but it seemed very lacklustre to me. There was no bopping for heavens sake !

hope things perk up tomorrow in London.

I fear Nottingham will have completely perked them out! :D

No, on this occasion I was in a Threshold Tshirt.
Poor! Which bit of the venue were you in?
Must must admit I was right down the front and from there I thought it was a fantastic show.
